Frequently asked questions

Product

What is Arrel?

An admin framework for Laravel. You define a Resource in PHP, with its fields, columns, filters and actions, and Arrel serves a JSON API and a precompiled Vue frontend that renders the panel. See the documentation.

What do I need to use it?

PHP ^8.5 and Laravel ^13.0. Authentication is based on Sanctum in SPA mode. See Installation.

Do I have to write JavaScript?

Not for a regular Resource: everything is described in PHP. JavaScript (Vue) is only needed if you want a custom page, for which Arrel gives you the component kit of its own interface.

Can I customize the look of the panel?

Yes. Each panel can have its own name, logo, colors, typography, theme (light, dark or automatic), footer and translated interface texts. See Panel configuration.

Does it work with multi-tenancy?

Arrel has no multi-tenancy strategy of its own. It exposes a TenantResolver and a middleware slot so you can plug in the one you already use, such as stancl/tenancy. See Multi-tenancy.

Which languages is it available in?

The panel interface is in English by default and can be translated with Panel::translations(). The documentation on this website is in Catalan, English, Spanish and French.

Security

How is access controlled?

Authorization happens on the server, at every endpoint, and delegates to the Laravel Policies of your models. A Resource that the user cannot list is closed entirely. See Security and authorization.

Does it support two-step verification?

Yes. Arrel defines the TwoFactorAuthenticator contract and you bind whichever implementation you want. It also supports email verification and attempt limits on sign-in. See Authentication.

Does Arrel send data to any external server?

We have not found any outgoing call or telemetry in the package's code. Arrel runs on your infrastructure, and the data of your panels does not go through us.

License and versions

Is Arrel open source?

No. It is proprietary software distributed from a private repository, and a valid license is required to use it in production. See the Terms of service.

What does a license cover?

A license is per production application. The plans determine how many applications each license includes and the level of support. See the pricing section on the home page.

How do I get the code?

Once you have a license, you will get read access to the private repository and Composer authenticates to it with a token. The steps are in Installation.

How do I find out about new versions?

Every version has its notes in Releases. The changes that can affect an existing application are in Behaviour changes. After updating, run php artisan arrel:assets again.

Support

How can I ask for help?

Write to us at support@arrelphp.com. The level of response depends on the plan.
